South Central MN | I think the water management with covers depends on your location and expected rainfall. "Here" I usually have excess water in the spring I want to get rid of, though this year might be different. Plenty of other states where the water is very hard to come by and they need every drop.
Some covers might do better at lower seeding rates even if you give up the weed suppression, I know rye puts out a lot of roots early. Might take an extra year or two to see some changes but stunting both crops with a lack of water isn't going to help much either. | |
