Central Ga
Small towns in Georgia with night life are few and far between, at least the kind of night life that we like and suspect that you might like. ;-) Along I -75 Tifton and Valdosta are both great places to spend a night and enjoy some good food. Charles Seafood in Tifton is an old family owned hole in the wall favorite of ours. Not much on ambience, but the food is very good! The Georgia Peanut Commission office is in Tifton. They have tours of the educational center available by appointment. The Georgia Agrirama is right across the interstate. It is basically a working replica of an old Southern farm. As someone else stated US 41 and US 19 are good routes to see more farms and small towns if you have time although you will not see much on either route until you get south of Macon. Tifton and Valdosta are both on 41. Andersonville National Cemetery is not far from 19 as is Plains, Ga. the home of Jimmy Carter. Ellis Bros. Pecans is an old family business just off of 75 at Vienna that offers a wide variety of pecans and pecan products raised and processed right there on the farm. I’ll edit and add if I think of anything else that might be of interest. Depending on when you are coming through there are a few gins still ginning cotton. Let me know if you are interested and I’ll see if my local gin has finished and see if I can arrange a tour. It is Pinehurst Cotton Company, just west of 75….if you have never seen a gin in operation.
