| I really liked my 8000. I used it with a New Holland roll baler, and it was a good combo. I don't have many other tractors to compare, but the 8000's PTO was super smooth and soft to engage and stop. Mine was open station so I can't comment on the cab. One thing I did find annoying was the high steps up to the flat floor. I'm short, so it got tough on the knees if I had to get on and off a lot.
I let the radiator fins get blocked and it overheated. I thought it blew a head gasket but apparently it got a crack in the water jacket somewhere. Mechanic told me the 401 in the 8000 had a weak spot there and it would cost too much to fix. Better make sure the coolant level is ok and not oily.
Fuel consumption was about average for a machine that size. I used a block heater below about 20 degrees, and not much trouble starting. | |
