Texas | I agree with Dave , we used to get Cummins recon heads .
Cummins pistons and liners in all Cummins boxes .
I don’t know if a fellow could still get the genuine Cummins stuff for a 855 now .
Little trick on the heads , we made what we called T handles . 6” 1/2 bolt with another welded to it .
I remember we used vegetable oil on line O rings so they would not swell until you wanted them to .
The liners need a puller to get out , but they don’t come out real hard .
When you go back in , we used a couple of head bolts and a stack of washers to seat them .
Supposed to use a 6 inch pound T handle Cummins tool to set injectors , it however can be done without that .
I believe they were called top stop injectors .
Also need to check push tubes , we dropped them on a concrete floor to see if they had a ring to them .
I never was the best or fastest engine guy at JB , only a few were allowed to mess with stuff like that . I’d say I stayed in the top 75% . Some guys were a lot better than me I always thought . Mine stayed together and that was good enough . | |
