Holly Hill, SC | I typically wire my radios to switch key power so they don't accidentially get left on overnight or longer. For the Motorola radios that require you to press the volume button to turn on, it was hard for everyone to remember to turn the radios back on at each tractor/combine start up. The shunt on the 7 and 9 pins automatically turns the radio on once power is introduced.
Not sure why yours will not power up without the shunt.
Ebay, 10 shunts/Jumper for $2.
