Iowa | So if she’s roughly your age (45) and has adult kids, that means she had the kids at roughly less than age 20. Usually those are not planned. Why are the kids still home? No father figure to throw them out and force them to grow up. I know in our relationship it’s usually dad (me) that has to have the tough conversations- a mom is usually gonna have more compassion and more likely to be taken advantage of - and kids today will run their parents if they’re allowed to. Doesn’t mean she’s a bad person, just that she doesn’t stand up to the kids - and realistically you won’t be able to either. I know lots of married couples where the kids will control situations until the dad steps in and puts an end to it - you have to remember with all the “niceness” of society most kids don’t get told “no” - they think they’re the biggest toughest thing around (especially boys) at 150#. Ive always said the best thing young men can have is to get knocked down, then have to get back up - sometimes dad is the guy to knock them down, sometimes he’s the guy that has to pick them up. Both boys and girls need a father figure and without it they will somewhat affected - in many cases today were in generation 2/3 without one. | |
