Subject: RE: Single women with grown lazy kids rant

Virginia, Northern Neck
You are most welcome, my friend.

Since I did not repel you, may I please share a bit more?

There are so many posts here about "salvage titles" and "scratch and dent," etc.

Without disrespect to any poster, are any of us here in brand-new condition?

I personally have never owned a new vehicle, or any other piece of major equipment.

Every home I have ever lived in was used, except for the one my parents bought in 1954, when I was 3 years old.

My used trucks and tractors and houses and land have all been reliable, faithful, and as accountants say "accretive to earnings."

Let us speak frankly, I am not much more than a well-used manure spreader - I devote significant hours to forking, piling, and spreading manure.

So please allow me a rant- your rant elicited lots of responses, so here is mine:

Character counts - more than anything else, character counts.

When you do go into town, make it a point to visit your bank, for any reason - make a deposit, withdraw some cash, whatever.

Talk to the women at the window - they all hold steady jobs, with security clearances, and they know how to handle money.

Half of them are single, and all of them have friends and relatives who are single.

Also be sure to chat up the bank manager every time you visit, she knows everybody in the county, and all of their business.

When you go to the feed store, the hardware store, the parts store, smile and acknowledge the women who work there, and also the ones who shop there.

When you go to the supermarket, or to Walmart, smile at all the women over 40, and always go to the checkout line with the 40+-year old woman at the register.

Chat up those 40+ women, get to know them and let them get to know you.

Over time, your network of female acquaintances over 40 will grow - forgive me here - like a herd of livestock.

Especially important, look at their hands.

The ones with the "nails" (you know what I'm talking about) will just not be compatible with farming.

Also look at their footwear - if they are not wearing sturdy, comfortable shoes, they will not be compatible with farming.

If you see a woman wearing insulated coveralls and work boots, chat her up.

She just might be single, or she might have a sister or cousin who is.

Long story short - you need to find a woman who shares your vision of the future, and is willing to work to make it happen.

The superficial things do not matter, all that matters is character, and how serious we are about the things that really matter.

End of rant - fire away - internet criticism does not bother me at all.
