Lapel, In
Rich when I spoke of the dust bowl, it probably wasn't the best model I could have used since Dad said everything burned up in 1936 here in Indiana too with 1934 and 1935 being almost as bad. I forget how many consecutive days of 100+ temps, but it was several(maybe 19?). It was a very widespread drought that just didn't encompass the Plains states and has few ,if any, similar eras.
!988 was a bad one, but I personally was affected more by a localized droughts of 1983 and 1967. Probably would have go clear back to 1913 for the next really bad year. It was dubbed the "winter without a summer". An old landlord that lived through it,said it froze on the July 4 and killed all the corn.
Sorry, but I was talking about an all encompassing drought, not just the midwest.
