i don't think you are dumb at all but i will give a contrarian view .... there are only so many acres available for corn , beans , wheat , ect. so after a while the only thing left to do is curb demand ... prolly the best way to do that is drive the nearby price high enough so that someone doesn't want it that bad anymore ...
