Subject: Re: Poverty Mentality

USA
These two words pretty well sum up why the majority of farmers are having a hard time believing that these types of prices are nothing more than a flash in a pan. I have talked to a lot farmers in the last week and have not talked to one that thinks these types of prices will last much longer let alone go much higher. The majority still think this thing could turn south any moment.

Talked to guy today that has 110 bu of corn sold for 08, he is also selling corn for 09 and 10, he thinks this thing could blow up anytime. Have talked to quite a few farmers that have more 08 crop forward sold than is usual for them to have.

It is hard to find a farmer that is bullish, at some point in time that will change. Those with a poverty mentality about grain prices are prolly going to get an expensive education. When the tide changes and the majority of farmers finally become wild eyed bulls, I am going to run for cover.

Imo until then the best strategy when it comes to selling grain is slow and steady, too early to be an aggressive seller.
