With "penny stocks" in the stock market day traders there are people that will group up, take a position in an obscure penny stock over time, then get on the stock chat boards and hype it up as much as they can to get suckers to buy in. Then they dump it. Of course that is on a very thinly traded stock so minimal trades can sway the price. Can't happen with a market as large as the commodities. But I suppose a person could believe if he takes a position, by hyping the opposite, he could somehow convince enough people he might help himself. Very unlikely if not impossible but doesn't keep someone from believing it.

More likely other reasons that we will never know. Some people just have to make a splash. That's ok. Keeps life interesting. Sometimes this board gets really dull. At least it has been interesting lately.
