Scranton | The late eighties were a good time to buy, but it took some guts(as it probably always has). My dad had four different farms he was a serious bidder on in the 87-89 time frame. He was top bidder on 100 acres at $900/acre at auction, but seller no saled. Then he bid $105K on a 160 that the asking price was $100K, and the seller rejected and kept the farm. Then he bid $78K on a 120 acres, seller wanted $82K, and dad got stubborn and said no. Then had a bid of $70K on a good 80, but got outbid and let it go. Now all those farms would bring $5K/acre or more.
Will I ever get those chances? Or is this my chance and we are going to $10K/acre? | |
