Macon, IL | High food costs are MUCH more impacted from price of FUEL that price of grain. That loaf of bread has more $ in the plastic wrapper and the trasportaation than in the wheat used in it...even the marketing. Same for corn flakes.
So if you really want lower food prices you will get more bang for the buck looking elsewhere.
If you are just looking for someone to blame then the New York times blaming it on the farmers is a great place to start-after all The New York times is one of the premier souces of good ag information. LOL
4 years ago when corn was under $2 I don't recall seeing any NY times articles talking about farmers selling corn below cost of production and "Thanks for the cheap food" articles. | |
