I concur with what has been posted by GTD, M, and mhagny in this thread. It all is in agreement with soil and crop science as it was taught to me, as well as being consistant with logical analysis in my opinion. I do question the 70% first year availiblity of manure. This is nowhere near what we have been told. I would guess the % given to be statisticaly figures and without knowning the variablility about the mean it is hard to draw any specific conclusions other then that the general trend is to have substantially increased first year availiblity in a banded situation. A lot of the factors in making these decisions depend on the outlook being taken on the piece of ground in question. If one assumes they have an interest in it's yields into perpetuity it requires a far different approach from if it is a one crop decision. |
