interesting information but I wonder about harvest being the highest during those years. As far as advisory services, everyone I know that uses one likes them until it is time to settle up, then they cuss about the money it cost to get less then they were led to believe. The fact that harvest price is higher than the average farmers leads me to believe there is very little forward contracting nor holding of grain for long after harvest. Many are probably selling into the after harvest drop to pay notes or the December drop for taxes. As I have started forward contracting and avoiding cash sales until about October through February, my average price is above the harvest price the last 6 out of 7 years. |
