I believe if ethanol crashes then corn crashes. If corn crashes ethanol is then resurrected. Crude crashing could be a problem but then again if crude crashes consumption increases and the cycle starts again.
We have been living in a $ per btu based world for quite some time. We are just now getting the bio fuel industry large enough and effecient enough to compete.
