Alton, Ia | So? The days of 100% farmer owned ethanol plants are pretty much past. New ones going up are being financed by deeper pockets and multinational coporations. Exxon/Mobil/whoever are in the energy business, if they can buyout sources of energy cheaply, why wouldn't they? If the local plant is owned by some corp, and they have the higher grain bid, do you think they won't get grain?
The only thing stopping them would be all the research being done today on other sources of energy, and there is A LOT of that happening right now. Ethanol may or may not be the long term answer. IF I was so smart to know that answer I wouldn't be up at 5 to go out and plow snow. :)
It's a tough world we live in. Ignoring the facts only makes it tougher.
