| One of the topics on a local call in show, that happens to lean Libertarian, today had one segment on Ethanol. I didn't hear his remarks, but I did hear the call ins after. MO, as of Jan 1, 2008, mandated 10% ethanol in all fuel. In short, folks are not happy. A couple folks called in that had already tried ethanol and quit becuase of the mileage loss in previous years. A couple folks called in mad that they had already lost 10%+ on fuel economy, and no longer had a choice. One guy called in saying ethanol wouldn't work in older engines with older fuel systems. I actually called in and corrected that, but I can't dispute the mileage loss. Folks don't like not having a choice. If there are many feeling this way, I wouldn't be surprised to see a voter referendum on this in the near future. The mandates were passed by the state Legislature and never got a popular vote. Dunno, I really don't think there is any countering this, especially when they are right. | |
