Subject: Re: Corn / Beans -- Acreage

Good question. I am going to have corn on corn this year simply because I am downsizing and want only one crop. It remains to be seen whether I can maintain yields comparable to corn on beans. I understand it take a learning curve to improve yields on corn on corn but some folks claim they can produce equivalant yields. I'm seeking a little agronomy help. Some of us with the heavy black soils need ideal conditions to produce top yields in soybeans. Beans don't like wet feet and some of our soils lack adequate drainage.
