Subject: Re: newborn calf problem

Nance County, Ne
During calving season (March) heard on the radio station about how they heard of a guy that was using WD-40 to orphan a calf to a new mother. At first we shrugged it off. Needed to orphan a calf over. Have always used all the new so called powders that were to have worked. We had the calf nurse the cow while she was in the head gate. Once calf is done spray the cows nose with WD-40 and also spray calf from nose to its rear. Keep the two seperated for 8 hrs or so to get calf hungry again. Then when calf is ready to nurse again try your best to spray cow and calf again. Pen them together and for us 95% of the time it worked. If not never had to do it more than 2 times. Can't recall how many we did this to but it was really amazing how much success we had using WD-40.

If you do decide to try this post back with your results or any other way that works to get them paired up.
