Subject: Re: where to get this gate latch?

Alberta, Canada
We have between 15-20 of the 2-way SurLatches, and (obviously) I think they're fantastic.

I've yet to see them break, although as was mentioned, they have to be either positioned, or bolted through so as to prevent the from being able to turn.

I trust them enough that if mounted on a metal post, I leave it as the only thing between me and a charging, irate cow.

I commonly use them to separate calves from their nutso mothers. (I chase the pair down a funneling alley that goes from 40' wide to 15' over the course of a hundred feet towards the open 15' gate, swung in towards the cow. As we approach it, I run beside them and swing the gate between them. If the calf was in front, I then vault the gate to get my a** out of there!

Which is another reason why I like them..... since I vault gates/panels 95% of the time (gates on chains swing).

More times than I can count, the cow has hit the gate (right where I vaulted from) before I've even landed on the other side.

So yea, I think they're strong. ;-)
