Central SD | If you have access to a yield monitor, I would use it! Insurance companies and adjusters delay and make excuses about how hard it is to measure and estimate yield damage suffered.
Last year I was getting the run around, so I finally took my yield data from that field and with the help of my destop software was able to calculate the exact area of the damage. It was a field of WW, and the paths the cattle traveled were 40 bu less than the rest of the field. They stuck out like a sore thumb on the map. I don't know if the adjuster did it or not, but he could have taken the map to the field and seen the flattened straw which correlated exactly with the low yielding areas on the map.
