Personally like knife, if they are going to die least it is quick. Actual death loss is minimal, but even the vet will loose one occasionally. Cut give preconditioning shots turn back with mama and wean two weeks latter, if possible. Small bander is bad idea on #500, Callicrate, will work fine, just don't to see them suffer.
