Western Nebraska | I guess I should specify that the spring loaded ones I am talking about are the ones commonly used on the ends of the tension springs. I have had several instances where the cattle would hit a fence real hard and they just pop apart. The ratchet part separates from the rest of the strainer. This is a situation where the cattle aren't normally pressuring the fence and they hit it fast. In a situation where I know that the cattle are going to be putting a lot of pressure on the fence I didn't want to use something I thought would probably fall apart.
