Subject: RE: "Curly Calf" Angus Cattle

Central, IA
From what I have read, They do not have a way to check breeding stock yet to see if they are a carrier or not. They are asking for tissue samples of any abnormal calves born right now. Sounds like they are trying to pinpoint the specific genetic marker right now, and hope to have a way to test for it by Thanksgiving at the earliest.

The bull we used that sired our potential replacement heifers for next year links back to the 1680 bull. So I am a little worried about keeping them as replacements until we can blood test them.
