Yes, if the calves are already weaned a few weeks, settled down, used to dry feed and tank water then the shrinkage might not be too bad. I'll trust Roy's numbers on that.
IMO, with no unforeseen snags it would be better to start gathering and shipping the cattle 23 hours later. Unload the calves and go through the auction ring pretty much right off the truck.
