Subject: RE: Grinding Feed

Orange County NY
I bought a Gehl 100 in 1986. Been grinding all my own feed for a 40 cow dairy ever since. Use home grown ear corn, shell corn and barley. Buy soy, DDG and minerals.

Make a milk cow mix, calf starter and a mix for the hiefers and dry cows. My machine will make a 2 ton mix.

Have not asked a local mill to price my mix in a long time. But when I did I was saving $30-50 / ton. The problem is pricing my corn, barley and labor.
