Effingham, IL | Anybody else have problems buying quality alfalfa hay? I just bought a load of 3x4's for $210/ton full of water-hemp and baled too wet. Seems every other load has a problem and the good loads always have a few junk bales mixed in. My broker is a nice guy just trying to make a living, I don't think he's out to screw people. Through my 27 years of dairying and buying hay it seems to be getting worse. If you buy a load from someone new the first load is good then it's the luck of the draw. It frustrates me paying big bucks for quality and getting junk. I tell them I'm willing to pay more for quality, but that doesn't work either. Craig | |
