| You can't feed Hol. steers and come out on them right now, at least in my area. I just sold some 320 lb. steers dehorned, cleaned up, vac. etc. I only got $110 per head for them. The 500 wts. only brought .40 and .48 cents a lb. They were real money makers! They were the last of my late summer/ fall calves that I didn't get disposed of on the day they were born. I've got a guy that is feeding Hol. heifers/ beef heifers for me on day money at $1.25. They are 700 wts. right now. Just feeding corn silage/ feeder hay. He is easy putting on a 1.5 lbs. on a day. Just right for replacement heifers. 1000 lbs. Hol. steers only bringing in the .65 cent range.
I also just bought a breeding Hol. bull weighing 980lbs. for $640, that's cheap, I used to have to pay a least $1,000 for a yearling Hol. bull for breeding for the last 10 years. | |
