Subject: Help--Cow dog ate rat poison

On Thursday I noticed half eaten rat poison packets on the side lawn. My mother in law had thrown them in the trash and the dogs got into it. Yesterday, I noticed my 9 mos old cow dog acting very lethargic and weak when he stood. He didn't eat his dinner and would only drink water. I have made several attempts to contact a vet , but good luck on the weekends! I have had a pup get into poison before and I remember that the vet gave her a shot of vitamin K to combat the poison and she was fine. Today he is having very labored breathing with very white gums and is still not eating. I finally got a hold of a vet, but he told me that the symptoms I was discussing were not indictive of poisoning that something else is going on. I can't get the dog in till tomorrow when the office opens but now I don't know what is going on with the dog. We were just given this dog 3 weeks ago so I have no idea if he has had any shots for parvo etc. I appreciate any advice you can give me.
