| You use a big curved needle, with a thread called umbilical tape ,you also need pliers to help push/ pull needle. It looks just like a shoe lace for tennis shoes. I go past the hair line on each side of the vulva, to put stitch in. I will put at least two stitches in, about 2 1/2" apart, don't lace it too tight. It should look like a normal vulva, only with a set of shoe laces across it. I leave them in around 3 weeks to a month. I wouldn't let her be around any breeding bulls with stitches in. Make sure you mark her to sell, and don't keep a heifer calf out of her. As far as antibiotics go you should follow the label, but I will tell you here I don't. I would three times dose her so I don't have to catch her again. | |
