Subject: RE: Spreading red clover on pasture

Driftless SW Wisconsin

Prior to drilling as pictured above I tried broadcasting seed then harrowing it in. In my particular soils I found that if I harrowed it aggressively enough to get some loose soil to cover the seed I actually caused more damage to the existing sod than I liked to see. Also a lot of soil compaction. Still did not get a very good stand of clover. Then decided to drill as a last resort. But this is in WI clay hills. Lighter soils as in KS may be different.
