Looking at the numbers above for chopping. At 5.50 a ton you would be hard pressed to make dry hay here. It costs about $6 to make a 4x5 bale that weighs about 800 to 1000 pounds. If you take 1000 pounds that is still 12 a ton before cutting, raking, hauling, unloading. I think you could add 10% more waste from the hay vs corn when the corn is chopped, or you have to chop the hay.
