We had 330 huts, and then we also had some panels set up in the grove. We could hold about 50 calves just tied to trees in the summer. The calves in the trees weighed 15 lb more at weaning.
We fed 3 bottles a day. That ment over 1000 bottles some days. Yes, they were all bull calves. We had a 15% death loss from day 1 to 350 lbs. I lost everything i had in 12 months of doing this.
It was a heck of alot of work.. I still have a milk master milk mixer that will mix 50 gallons at a shot and a bottle cart to pull behind a small tractor or 4 wheeler. |
