I don't understand Roy's problem either. We raise our cows for money too, but when you get them in the pen, the ones that you feed a little more often are the ones that are substantially nicer. We raise a wide range of cattle (Limousine, Chi, Angus, Brangus, F-1, Beefmaster, Hereford) They all have docile ones and mean ones. Most of the time you don't see it till they have you down on the ground, but you sure as h%#& know that they will be gone if you see a hint of aggression. I've been chased up and over the fence by them all and pinned down by a few, but there are a lot of variables that make that happen. I used to rent some places that were mainly brush, and you would never see the cattle for 2 months by following the roads or even on horseback. Those cattle were nuts, and my dad and I both recognized that bad situation. Made a lot of money off that place due to the low rent and low maintenance, but life is more important when you have too many run-ins with crazy cattle.

Oh, to answer the question though, I would go with Beefmasters....... NOT. Anyone that knows me on here will get a kick out of that one considering what happened this past summer.

Out of the cattle that we own the Limousines are probably the most docile and we don't have problems with them calving, but that can be fixed in near any breed with good bull selection. Every once in a while you will get one that stares you down and snorts a little, but a change of the gates directing her to the trailer fixes that pretty quick. The Hereford bulls are usually pretty tempermental if they have horns and the Hereford cows are gentle, but that is usually because they are too sick to move. (Don't get mad with that, but South Texas is a harsh environment for them)
