Farmington, Mo | So, FJS inspired me to make this post. This is not the feeding barn my cousin built that I had mentioned in the previous post.

This is our barn at the home place where my Grandpa started farming in 1942. The barn was built around 1850. It has a limestone rock foundation and is made of old growth southern pine. Until 4 years ago, it was the original (as far as I know) board and batten exterior. We had a local carpenter who likes working on old barns put the red sheet metal on to help preserve the barn for another 50 years. Roof was originally shingles, but was replaced with barn tin in the 50’s.
It was originally a horse/cattle barn. My grandpa modified it tremendously poured lots of concrete, adding a feedway in the middle and built the silos…a 14x50 in the 50’s and a 16x50 in the 60’s.
