I agree with the diode. I have had them cause some crazy problems. If I remember correctly, that diode will provide ground for some circuits and so if it starts to go bad you can have some crazy intermittent things happen. If I remember correctly also, those diodes have changed over the years. It will look different then the original one if that’s what you still have.
